The Best Pizza Places In Vilnius, Lithuania

The Best Pizza Places In Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius, the political and cultural capital of Lithuania, is a colorful cosmopolitan city where visitors can find it all; culture, art, history, nature and a large variety of great bars and restaurants that offer both Lithuanian and various foreign cuisines. Here are the city’s five best pizza spots.

Užupio picerija

This pizza restaurant, considered by many to make the best pizza in Vilnius, is located in a beautiful building and within a very desirable location in the bohemian quarter of Vilnius, which claims to be an autonomous republic – Užupis. The most unique thing about the venue are the glass walls, which are great for those who feel like people watching. The pizzas are made in true Italian style by an Italian chef, and come with a thin crust, while there’s a huge variety of toppings on the menu.

Don Simon picos namai

“Don Simon” pizza house is situated in one of the oldest and greenest areas of Vilnius, Žvėrynas, which certainly adds a little something to the place. The joint offers a variety of delicious Italian pizzas in a bright and airy, modern environment. Every day the chefs serve a different soup, which comes with roasted ciabatta bread slices. Don Simon is a lovely place to have brunch or lunch on the weekend.

Visa Pica

This pizzeria with only 10 seats is a unique place away from the city center, but easily reachable by bus. It is easy to spot due to one unique detail – a yellow school bus parked outside that also serves as part of the restaurant. Due to the limited space and a huge amount of regular patrons, it can be tricky to get a meal here, but it is worth the wait. The pizza is made in a firewood furnace which helps to get a paper-thin crust, while only high-quality ingredients are used for the toppings.

Osteria da Luca

Decorated in a homely Italian style, with dark wood, chequered tablecloths and pictures of Italian landscapes on the walls, this pizza place offers a variety of wonderful Italian dishes, from antipasti to risotto and pasta. An Italian radio station also plays in the background while guests sit at one of the four tables in the main dining-room. Although the prices are a bit on the high side, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely a must-visit for anyone appreciating quality in both food and design, or those in search of a fine pizza in Vilnius.

Jurgis ir drakonas

The chefs at this funky and modern pizza restaurant, called “George and the Dragon” in Lithuanian, take their inspiration directly from Naples – the original home of pizza. The pizza is baked in a wooden stove on an open fire just like it’s done in Italy, and the ingredients, mostly brought from Italy, are always fresh and of the best quality.
