The beautiful Emma Morano, the only person on the planet alive who was born in the 1800s, celebrated her 117th birthday yesterday.

Emma was born on November 29 1899. To put this into perspective, she has survived two world wars, 21 US Presidents, 29 UK Prime Ministers and a colossal 90 Italian Governments (woop!).

So what’s the secret to Emma’s long life? Eggs and cookies. She told the UK Guardian: “I eat two eggs a day and that’s it. And cookies. But I do not eat much because I have no teeth.”

She celebrated her birthday by chillin’ in her armchair with her two nieces, a jolly duo of nurses and her long time bestie doctor in her hometown of Verbania, Italy.

In addition to seeing her friends and other well wishers, Italy’s president read an official statement on a live television broadcast wishing her “serenity and good health.” Wondering what her fav present was? A packet of biscuits, which she washed down with some milk.

After a good nap, the celebrations continued with a visit from the mayor and a knock out cake in the afternoon – oh and she also got a Guinness World Records cert declaring her as the oldest person in the whole entire world (flattering, eh?)
