Oltrarno is a marvellous neighborhood in Florence, hosting the massive Palazzo Pitti and the huge Boboli’s Garden. But if you really want to enjoy the Italian way of life, before starting a cultural visit here and touring the sites, be sure to take your morning slow and settle in for espresso and pastries in one of the area’s top cafes, here’s some of our favorite.

Customers stepping into this charming blue and white cioccolateria are instantly immersed in one of Florence’s finest sweet shops. Hemingway Firenze features every kind of chocolate, from hot chocolate to biscuits and everything else in between. On Sundays they offer brunches featuring fresh smoothies, yogurt, cereals and American coffee, along with plenty of different cocoa-based treats and a smattering of veggie and vegan-friendly options as well.

Organic and vegan are the keywords to this stylish place that entices everyone to enjoy a treat as they stroll by though Oltrarno in the morning. Just a few blocks from the Arno river, Sweethings features vegan pastries, going from fruit tarts to chocolate muffins, and salty snacks like stuffed focacce or pasta bites. Everything is baked with natural and healthy ingredients and produced and sourced from local farms.

A wholesome and friendly atmosphere welcomes customers to this American-style bakery that features traditional U.S. pastries like cookies, muffins and colorful cupcakes in the heart of Oltrarno.
