In two new videos created by Mario Testino’s Mira Mira, Culture Trip readers are exclusively invited to discover two brands safeguarding and celebrating iconic Venetian design: ViBi Venezia and Laguna B.

ViBi Venezia

Shot during the Venice Biennale this year, the first video follows sisters Viola and Vera Arrivabene. After years of being begged by friends to bring back the city’s famous furlane slipper from trips to Venice, the sisters decided to launch a brand which produced the shoe themselves. Handmade in Italy, ViBi Venezia embodies the easy glamour of Venetian life.

A signature slipper, the Venetian furlane has a long and rich history which harks back to a time when gondoliers wore them to protect their boats. In the days of marble palaces, the soft rubber sole also meant they were perfect for sneaking around.

The Arrivabene sisters launched their brand ViBi Venezia to celebrate this beloved shoe, offering chic, timeless styles to wear in Venice and beyond.

Laguna B in Murano

Murano’s glass blowing techniques have evolved over 700 years and as this video shows, the energy and innovation of those who work in the industry has continued to flourish.

Family-run-brand Laguna B is one of Venice’s most respected glass makers. Their work spans intricately designed and brightly coloured tumblers, to arresting vases, plates and bowls.
