For the night is dark and full of wonders.

You’ve seen them from space, from the ground and on television, but have you ever seen them from the comfort of your own aeroplane seat? No? We didn’t think so. One lucky photographer who was on a Delta flight from New York to Iceland managed to capture the world’s most colourful event on video. Having bagged a whole row to himself (lucky!) Aryeh Nirenberg had enough space to set up a tripod, hide his camera under a blanket (to block those pesky cabin lights out) and capture a magical time lapse that’s got the whole YouTube world (and us) buzzing!

Just 45 seconds long, the cool video has already amassed an epic 250,000 views since it was posted on the video networking site.

Looks like we’re all heading to Iceland for the rest of the winter.
