Your adventure begins at Ammoudi Fish Tavern at 11am, where you’ll be introduced to the yacht’s captain and your shipmates. Hop on a private transfer to Thirasia island, where your vessel is waiting. Post welcome meeting, enjoy a five-hour cruise across the Aegean, through Santorini caldera, to the sandy Manganari Beach on Ios island. Come evening, check out the buzzy restaurants and bars near the harbour.

Set sail for rugged Amorgos, stopping for a swim at the aptly named Paradisi Beach before continuing to Katapola port. Here you’ll discover a romantic offering of waterfront cafes, restaurants and bars with views over Cycladic windmills and a Venetian castle. There’s also a Minoan settlement to explore, or you could visit the Moni Hozoviotissis, a whitewashed 11th-century monastery clinging to a rocky peak. Need more? The mountainside village of Hora is home to pretty stone alleys and Byzantine churches.

Set off for the Small Cyclades this morning, an island group of pretty fishing villages and peaceful coastlines. It was once a hideout for pirates (and goats) but now has a permanent population of around 300, who live in the villages of Koufonisia, Iraklia, Schinoussa and Donousa. Come evening, perhaps head to a sea-front taverna for fresh seafood and views over the Mediterranean.

After the Small Cyclades, head to the largest of the Cycladic islands, Naxos, where you'll spend days four and five. If you want to properly relish its beauty, join the optional day trip around the island. If not, there’s plenty to do on land. Head south to find the best beaches and watersports. Or for a cultural adventure, trek to Kastro, an old Roman Catholic neighbourhood of churches, mansions and ruins. Alternatively, join an optional tour into the country for lunch in a family-run taverna and a visit to one of the oldest temples in Greece. Evenings are best spent enjoying the buzzy nightlife in the capital Hora.

Set sail for Syros, stopping along the way for a refreshing dip in the Bay of Gaidharos. Upon reaching the island, visit the medieval town of Ano Syros, wandering narrow alleys and passing through stone archways. Or you could venture to Ermoupoli, the capital of the Cyclades, to check out the imposing, neoclassical town hall on the main square.

This morning, head to one of the best-known Cycladic islands, Mykonos. Its legendary status has been cemented for millennia – the ancient Greeks believed it was the site of a ferocious battle between Zeus and the Titans. Create your own legends here, bouncing from gallery to boutique in the town, admiring the sugar-white Church of Panagia Paraportiani or chilling on the beach. Come evening, a raucous nightlife awaits should you wish to let loose.

Today, arrive at the island of Sifnos, where artistic hands have been creating beautiful ceramics for generations. If you want to take a dip in the sea, head to the Kamares port where you’ll find the best beach on the island. Alternatively, head to the island capital Apollonia to tour the Museum of Popular Art and wander among all-white homes, churches and chapels.

Set sail for chilled Folegandros, an island with fewer than 800 permanent residents. Go with the flow here, resting up at Karavostasis port, a pebble beach or a cute waterfront taverna. Should you want to explore, take a stroll through the island capital Chora, one of the oldest villages in the Cyclades. Come evening, climb the zig-zagging stairs up to the white-washed Church of the Panagia for sunset.

Today, the island-hopping adventure comes to an end. Sail back through Santorini caldera to reach Thirasia around 9.30am. Take a private boat to Ola Pier in north Santorini at 10.30am, reaching your destination around 11am. The trip ends here; either head to Santorini International Airport for your return flight home or spend more time exploring beautiful, ancient Greece.
