On the gorgeous Dodecanese island of Kos, Greek and Roman ruins dot forested hillsides which tumble to some of the finest beaches in Greece. Villages such as Zia are famous for their blue-and-white houses and cosy tavernas, while the ancient ruins of the Asklepion will appeal to historians. Explore it all with a stay in one of these villas, which range from farmhouse-style rural properties to stylish modern retreats, catering to all tastes and providing a comfortable base for your island adventures.

The canvas rooftops of these luxurious tented villas resemble sailboats bobbing on the Aegean Sea, while the interiors – with chipboard walls, wicker baskets and covered verandas – have a boho feel. Safari Tents have living areas with comfy sofas, while both these and the Tented Villas have fully equipped ensuite bathrooms. In classic Greek style, there’s an outdoor amphitheatre, which hosts storytelling sessions, films and stargazing workshops.

Within the blue-and-white exterior are rooms decked in citrus green, with backlit headboards made from upcycled distressed wood. The outdoor pool is a tempting place to watch the sun go down over the sea, but even better views are afforded from the roof terrace – complete with loungers and a hot tub.
