Thessaloniki is certainly known for its vibrant nightlife and the same can be said concerning its wine bars, which cover a wide range of establishments, from casual joints to more elaborated addresses. The humble grape has a bright future in Greece’s second city. Need some proof? Here are the top wine bars you can find in Thessaloniki.

Hidden in Morgkentaou street, a small street lined with listed buildings off Mitropoleos, Bientôt is a wine cellar which specializes in natural wine. Housed in a beautiful building with a minimalist and sleek décor, Bientôt has the flair of an art gallery, but don’t let that fool you, as you will find a serious collection of French and Greek labels. Ring the bell at the door, step inside, and enter a new world where you can taste, learn, and discuss all things wine if you are lacking the relevant know-how.

2. Chilai

Wine Bar, Contemporary, Mediterranean, Wine

Forget what you know about wine bars and discover Chilai, a café, wine bar, and restaurant under the same roof. Here, you can enjoy coffee, snacks, and fresh juices in the morning, while past 1:00 p.m., the joint serves delicious, meat-based food. Have a look at the wine list with more than 100 labels from Greece and beyond. If cocktails are your kind of poison, you will certainly love the cocktail menu carefully crafted by the on-site mixologists. Add to this a warm and welcoming staff, a beautifully decorated interior, and a casual atmosphere, and you will understand why Chilai has a strong following.

Or you could simply choose a delicious plate of cheese and charcuterie.

If you are craving good wine while in the area, head straight to Gaspard. While jazz and soul tunes fill the air, you can slurp some delicious wine or wine-based cocktails. Besides, the owners of this charming French-inspired joint are educated when it comes to wine and wine-producing techniques and can definitely point you in the right direction, should you need some help.
