Social Solidarity Festival by Alternative Cultural Workshop
The Alternative Cultural Workshop came into being five years ago by a group of students and teachers who shared a vision for a different world. This vision was reflected in the creation of the Workshop, a non-profit organization that promotes the free exchange of knowledge through self-organized classes on numerous subjects, from foreign languages and dance, to photography and music.
Every summer the Alternative Cultural Workshop organizes a three-day festival in the Spianada Square, in the heart of the city. The Social Solidarity Festival includes exhibitions and seminars put together by the various self-organized classes, like the photography exhibition, speeches and discussions on social issues, film projections and live concerts. It also hosts an exchange bazaar where everyone can give and take for free whatever they may need, from clothes and DVDs to toys and books, in the framework of the Workshop’s concept that people’s financial situation should in no way define them.
Seven Arts Festival happens in the Viros village of Corfu. It hosts a wide range of cultural activities, including music concerts, plays, dance and photography exhibitions and much more. A large number of famous Greek artists visit Corfu in order to appear in the Seven Arts Festival, which gets crowded every weekend by locals and students.
Every summer, Seven comes from Viros to the heart of the city for the amazing Seven Festival! Spread over various outdoor settings, from the Old Fortress to the Rena Vlachopoulou Theater in Mon Repos, the most famous Greek artists offer great live music nights to their lucky crowds.
Be There! Corfu Animation Festival
This international animation festival aims to bring together animation artists and fans in Corfu, which has been set as its landmark venue. Be There has been named as one of the best European animation festivals, hosting a wide range of Greek and international short films and full-length movies. It is a four-day celebration of art, entertainment and imagination that includes international premieres, collaborations with other festivals, seminars and children’s workshops.
Corfu Beer Festival
Corfu Beer Festival was established in 2013, when a small group of people created something more than a beer festival – a festival of cultural interaction and gastronomy that promotes the local tradition and production. Every year the five-day festival teams up with another country to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy native products and try unique local flavors. In 2013 the festival was ‘Corfu Meets Bavaria’, in 2014 it was called ‘Corfu Meets the UK‘, while in October 2015 the festival was ‘Corfu Meets Italy‘.
Arillas Wine Festival
Arillas Wine Festival is organized every year by the Arillas Cultural Organization. Locals will offer their local wine accompanied by grilled souvlaki and the sounds of traditional music. Folklore dancing groups complete the picture of this authentic traditional feast.
