Liquidrom is a futuristic palace of relaxation, a sleek German spa in the heart of the city whose fascinating crown-like architecture pierces the Berlin skyline. Inside the surreal complex you will discover no less than four saunas, an outdoor heated pool and the spa’s crowning jewel, a dimly lit indoor saltwater pool that holds its own electronic music nights for the ultimate rest and relaxation experience.
Situated in the centre of Berlin, the white crownlike structure of the Tempodrom is something to behold. The design was inspired by a circus tent, as a tribute to history of the site, which was a train station until it was demolished in 1960, and attracted buskers and performance artists to the area.
There is nowhere else in the city where you can float in a pool and listen to classical and electronic music underwater. This special feature of the spa includes regular electronic and beat nights hosted by resident and guest DJs. Guests can grab a pool noodle and feel the boundlessness of space and time as they get lost in a dark pool of healing saltwater, with music to soothe the ears, salt to soothe the skin and colourful light projections that add to the feeling of floating in space.
Special DJ and classical music performances take place in the evenings, and the spa is open until midnight during the week and until 1am on weekends, making it the ultimate night swimming spot to unwind in after a long day at work. Guests can move between the main saltwater pool and the various saunas, where infusions and salt rubs are offered.
Details of the special electronic evenings can be found on the events section of the spa’s website, and will include anything from minimalistic jazz nights to downbeat electronica, film music, classics, B-sides and live instrumentals. There are also massage facilities and a restaurant, so that you can shut out the outside world entirely for the length of your visit to this futuristic haven of relaxation.
