Acid Pauli – BLD
Berlin-based electronic producer Acid Pauli has been pioneering a new and intelligent sound in electronic dance music. He recently held a release party for his new album, BLD, at one of the favourite clubs in the city, Kater Blau, and what a party it was! Intergalactic, eclectic and energetic, Berlin will be dancing to this album all spring and summer long.
Milky Chance – Blossoms
Germany’s folk rock heroes have just released their second album – aptly named for the season – Blossoms. The lead single, ‘Cocoon’, can be heard blaring along the canal from bluetooth speakers when the sun comes out. The band is just about to embark on an enormous world tour and will make its way back to perform in Berlin in late November.
Noga Erez – Off the Radar
This sassy, fierce singer hailing from Tel Aviv is about to drop her debut album, Off the Radar. In the meantime, her title single has already been played on repeat. The artist has been busy with SXSW Festival in Austin and Convergence Festival in London, and she will also be playing at Primavera Sound, the hippest music festival in Barcelona.
Moses Sumney has the voice of an angel, and his melodies are a fusion of pop, gospel, R&B and soul – which he just graced Germany with in a slew of solo performances. His gentle, heartfelt songs are perfect for walking outside to breathe in the spring air or for relaxing in the park to watch life come back to the city.
Cigarettes After Sex
No one knew much about this new wave ambient pop band from Brooklyn until it became a YouTube hit. The smokey melodies can be heard at twilight, streaming out of basement apartments in Berlin or any indie kid’s playlist. A self-titled debut album will be released later this year, and the band is set to play a live show in Berlin any day now.
Öona Dahl – Holograma
This lovely lady of electronica has just released her five-track EP, Holograma, which is also featured on Hallucienda. Based between New York and Berlin, the artist describes her music as ‘a channel to enter other dimensions of coloured, refracted dreams and sound waves guided by the spirit she.’ That’s quite something, and probably feels true on the dance floor at 5am or watching the sunrise that Berliners can look forward to again this spring.
