From music to fashion to contemporary art, Berlin is at the cutting edge of design. It’s only natural that Berlin locals would want the innovative spirit of the city to reflect on its visitors. There are many luxury design and architectural hotels interspersed throughout Berlin for this very reason. Here are seven of our favorites.

Cosmo Hotel Berlin

Located in Mitte at the heart of Berlin’s famed museum quarter is Cosmo Hotel. It features various themed rooms and successfully blends the casual with the luxurious to reflect the overall vibe of Berlin itself. The hotels 84 minimalist style rooms, for instance, combine cozy tones and textures with edgy artistic finishes. Many of the rooms also feature floor to ceiling windows that offer fantastic views of the city. The hotel restaurant, Scent, features ecologically sourced regional cuisine with elegant presentations. Also, the concierge is highly knowledgeable about the best restaurants, bars, cafes, and boutiques located in the vicinity.

Opened since 1995, Bleibtreu is a chic boutique hotel on a leafy side street in Charlottenburg. The décor here is clean and simple with an expert intermingling of patterns serving as the primary decorative force. The hotel Bleibtreu also contains a gorgeous contemporary style flower shop with an equally stunning courtyard terrace. Bleibtreu offers plenty of spa treatments including herbal steam baths, acupuncture, reflexology, and massage. All in all, it is a charming Berlin hotel in a part of the city with easy access to restaurants and shops that provides far more than the basics.

Das Stue

Das Stue is a 1930s neoclassical dream with modern interior decorations. We love to see the way the Gatsby-esque architecture blends with contemporary styles and Das Stue offers examples at every turn. Rooms are done in layered neutral tones, which give depth to their aesthetics and accentuated with art-deco style prints as well as fashionable furnishings. Located on Tiergarten’s edge, Das Stue is close to the philharmonic orchestra, Neues Museum, Potsdamer Platz and Kürfurstendamm making it an ideal home base for anyone looking to get a taste of Berlin’s high cultural scene.

Hotel Zoo Berlin

Kürfurstendamm has long been one of the most glamorous streets in Berlin. Therefore, it makes sense that opulent accommodations like those of Hotel Zoo would be found here. In operation since 1911, the establishment was recently renovated to achieve a more modern look but it certainly maintains its original level of classical sumptuousness and sophistication. The entrance says it all with its long green jaguar carpet extending like a catwalk to the front desk. Another stunning feature of this hotel is its high ceilings, which are accentuated in the lobby with the help of an exquisite glittering chandelier.

The Mandala Hotel

The Mandala Hotel is a five star hotel with Eastern aesthetic influences including exotic flowers, rich color schemes, Oriental style ornamentation and Japanese minimalism. Many of the rooms are suites and studios that come with full kitchens and there is a fabulous hotel spa. The ONO spa features a sauna, beauty treatments, massage, and a fitness facility. The hotel restaurant, FACIL, has two Michelin stars, making the dining itinerary for your trip easy. Patrons have the chance to dine al fresco in the beautifully maintained courtyard when the weather permits. Mandala also houses an exclusive lounge and bar area called QIU.

Soho House Berlin

Soho House is a members’ club located in Mitte with a phenomenal view of Berlin’s skyline, a terrace pool, a restaurant and a lounge. Despite its exclusive nature and high brow reputation, Soho House is popular with the city’s young creatives as much as anyone. On weekends there is often a live DJ to lull guests with dreamy beats. It’s hard to place the stylistic persuasion of Soho House, but in a good way. The interior simultaneously features rustic wood elements and glitzy chandeliers, along with a color scheme ranging from deep red to turquoise.

nhow Berlin

Known largely for its flashy contemporary architecture, nhow Berlin is the city’s premiere music hotel, which automatically makes it cool in our books. Indeed, there are two fully functional recording studios and electric guitars, which guests can borrow for free. What’s more is that this reflective cantilevered edifice is poised right at the edge of the river Spree. It is also located in the heart of Berlin’s nightlife zone of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, making nhow the ideal 5-star hotel for the successful and stylish person looking to experience this integral part of the city.
