Berliners survive the long winters by regularly going to their special sauna. Many locals are loyal to their favorite sauna, but this depends on preference and location. Whichever destination you choose for your soak and steam, each sauna is a privilege in its own right. No matter how much fun you are having, you want to take at least a two-hour break and make it to a Berlin sauna. They might just be one of Berlin‘s best kept secrets.

Most of the locals go all nude as they move from one sauna session to the next, but swimsuits are allowed. There are usually both hot and cold baths and pools for groups or individuals to dip in and out of, showers, and plenty of steam. This is one form of detox you wont be able to forget.

1. Vabali Spa Berlin

Spa, Health Spa

The minute you walk into Vabali, you already feel relaxed – once you find it, that is. Vabali is tucked away in the middle of the Berlin greenery, just next to Tiergarten. Every touch at Vabali Spa is soft, from the music to the painted walls, and every detail was thoughtfully laid out to make each guest feel calm and relaxed. Vabali Spa is quite big and has several saunas with different natural aromas and attractions. For instance, you may arrive just in time for a honey basil sauna session, or for the detoxifying and awakening peppermint sauna session. Better yet, make it a day trip and escape for the next few hours into total relaxation.

2. Liquidrom

Spa

Liquidrom is a fairly well-known spa in Berlin because of its ultra modern set-up. They often invite DJs to play, and the swimmers and local bathers can sink their head underwater to get a listen to the underwater groove and enjoy the light show. It’s sort of like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (like many other places in Berlin). You can have a float in their saltwater pool all the way through midnight. Liquidrom definitely beats the bathtub any day.

4. ONO Spa

Spa, Health Spa

ONO Spa is centrally located and has several rooms, a gym, and a chill zone, like a total relaxation room. ONO Spa makes your workout worth every minute of sweat and effort with a holistic relaxation payoff. The spa is spotlessly clean, and the wellness atmosphere makes it hard to leave. Not a bad way to start or end your day.

5. Olivin Wellness Lounge Sauna

When they said lounge, they really meant it. In this Finnish sauna, you can get a massage and a tasty bite as well. If you want to enjoy your day here, the best to go is in the morning, when you can indulge in their sweet waffle breakfast. Olivin Wellness Lounge Sauna is an attractive cozy sauna in which to start your perfect day. If you can’t make it for the breakfast, they are open until midnight, and they have an herbal aromatic steam on the hour, every hour.
