Be A Good Listener At Staatsoper für alle

Picture of Brienne Pierce
Updated: 7 July 2016
State Opera for Everyone is the translation and the idea of the annual classical concert orchestrated under the conductor of Daniel Barenboim. The award-winning orchestra of the State Opera Berlin comes together on an ephemeral platform at Bebelplatz in Mitte on a Sunday (hopefully sunny) afternoon to provide the people with some classical music. They play a few pieces. This year’s event will feature Jean Sibelius’s violin concerto in D minor op. 47 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 E flat major ‘Eroica.’ The violin soloist is Lisa Batiashvili. The surrounding area is closed off to traffic to help with the acoustics and to create a level of intimacy that is usually apparent in a typical concert hall setting. It’s an open-air event that wants to bring a usually more elite culture to the masses. People can bring chairs, blankets, and refreshments.

📅 July 9th, 6 pm

📍 Bebelplatz 10117 Berlin, Germany
