Art of Prehistoric Times – Martin-Gropius-Bau

Rock art is about provenance, not primitivism! German ethnologist Leo Frobenius understood that, and his collection of paintings, rendered by copyists during his expeditions, act as some of our earliest records of his rock and cave art discoveries. It’s not every day that the public is invited to discover some of the Earth’s best-kept secrets, remnants of an almost pre-human history, but at Martin-Gropius-Bau this May, the public is invited to do just that. A highly reviewed exhibition draws to its conclusion this May — absolutely worth a day in a museum to glimpse this fascinating corner of the past.
