has a renowned literary past and a wide and wonderful selection of book shops. However, a growing number of its residents speak English as their first language, and therefore there are many shops that cater to these people. There are excellent new and used English book shops all around the city, and here is a list of the most memorable. That can only mean one thing: it’s reading time.
This popular second-hand bookshop in Kreuzberg is one of a kind. Another Country’s system lends itself more to a library than a traditional bookshop, where readers pay for the book and can then return them to receive their money back (minus a 1.50 euro charge). Feel free to browse the 20,000+ used books available and do some reading here.

Saint Georges English Bookshop
Set in the heart of the trendy Prenzlauer Berg district, Saint Georges English Bookshop claims to have Berlin’s largest collection of English books. Since 2003, this place has been a labor of love for twin brothers Daniel and Paul, and it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood’s wide selection of shops. They are primarily a second-hand shop and receive regular shipments from the UK. It is possible to sell used books to them for cash or store credit, and they accept pounds, US and Aussie dollars on top of the usual methods of payment.
