MonCœur Belleville, Summer's Top Parisian Hotspot

Imagine a place where your senses are heightened by the views, the ambiance, and most importantly, the food. Close your eyes, for these young chefs will steal your heart and palate away in an atmosphere that is chic, gourmet and innovative.  A new Parisian hotspot, MonCœur Belleville, will satisfy the most exigent palates. Try fresh new flavors, light textures, and the best local products directly to your table. Welcome crunchiness, a balance of flavor and aesthetic presentation.

MonCœur Belleville initially started as a place where people went to enjoy the terrace on summer days mainly for drinks, a small local art gallery, and occasional live music. They were originally known for their terrace, but not for their food. But luckily, this changed.

The founder of MonCœur Belleville wanted to transform the place into more than a terrasse sympa, he wanted it to become a reference of haute cuisine. As part of this transformation, Chefs Etienne Daviau and François Leduc joined the team. Etienne and François spent three years training at L’Épicure, a 3* Star Michelin restaurant – rated as the number one restaurant in Paris. Along came Philippe Sonou and Edouard Sonou, twin brothers, who were ready to take over the reception.

‘Creative Tapas’ has become MonCœur Belleville’s personal identity: a balance between French and Asian influence – given the local products around the area.

‘Belleville has a myriad of spice and Asian markets, we wanted to play with it. Of course, the influence of French haute cuisine would be present there; it is where we trained, it is our base, but we want to be creative – catering quality at a reasonable price to our clients,’ says Chef François Leduc

‘We wanted to make what people consider haute cuisine available to all in a cozy environment. So we redecorated the ambiance, created new dishes and cocktail pairings, and brought in games so that people could stay longer, enjoy their whole evening there, and make it feel homely.We add and change new dishes on average every two weeks, sometimes each month; that is what keeps people coming back. We don’t want them to grow bored, we want them to be amazed,’ remarks Chef Etienne Davau.

At night, their dishes are meticulous, balanced. Try the Salmon Miso, cooked for 24 hours with an herb reduction and paired with a lemon sauce that is reminiscent of a lemon tart, or Razor a la Plancha, with funnels and Bouillabaisse juice. For a sweet ending, the re-fashioned, decomposed lemon tart or Japanese Pearls are noteworthy. It’s quite the experience, no matter what you get.

With the perfect atmosphere and the exquisite food, you will want to keep coming back, especially in the evening to see the Eiffel Tower all lit up from the Parc de Belleville.  It is the perfect place for a romantic date or meeting with friends.

Prices à la Carte range from 15 to 23 euros, and their amazing desserts are around 8 euros. Their brunch is fantastic at 22 euros with a hot drink and freshly squeezed fruit juice. Scrambled eggs au siphon give a total different texture and feeling.

So as these lovely chefs would say, ‘Mon Cœur, my darling, bonjour.’ Come dine and vine under the lovely Parisian sky.
