Chekhov’s 'The Seagull' At The Théâtre De l’Odéon

Picture of Culture Trip
Updated: 27 May 2016
Chekhov’s masterpiece has an eternal emotional force. This production, based on a contemporary adaptation of the play by Olivier Cadiot, fuels contemporary ingredients into the drama: present-day costumes, songs in English, references to current tragic events in Syria… Thomas Ostermeier achieves to make Chekhov’s The Seagull a stunningly moving reflexion on the impossibility of love.
The production is served by a first-class team of actors, led by Valérie Dreville and above all Matthieu Sampeur as a desperate, profoundly touching Kostia. A must-see in the final days of the season.
