After a bite to eat, you’ll want to stretch your legs. Fortunately, the walk along <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Les+Fous+de+L'Ile,+Rue+des+Deux+Ponts,+Paris,+France/Panth%C3%A9on,+Place+du+Panth%C3%A9on,+Paris,+France/@48.849985,2.3527191,17z/am=t/data=!4m18!4m17!1m5!1m1!1s0x47e671fceaca5145:0xd2e0166d9bd616b9!2m2!1d2.356783!2d48.8522223!1m5!1m1!1s0x47e671e7d297c973:0xe5eb004f23a758!2m2!1d2.3464138!2d48.8462218!3e2!6m3!1i0!2i0!3i2">Rue du Cardinal Lemoine</a> towards the Panthéon, at just over a kilometer, is the longest between any two sites on this tour. You may have noticed that this enormous mausoleum in the <a href="https://theculturetrip.com/europe/france/paris/articles/31-captivating-views-of-the-latin-quarter/">Latin Quarter</a> isn’t Baroque at all. Rather, built between 1764 and 1790, it is one of Paris’ earliest examples of Neoclassicism. Louis XV and architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot’s decision to reject Baroque, the preferred style of Rome and the papacy, had a lot to do with the king’s increasing antagonism towards the Catholic church.
