Updated: 21 March 2017
NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has been orbiting Mars while taking some great images with its HiRise camera. This gave Finnish Filmmaker Jan Fröjdman the opportunity to create this incredible video, allowing us to soar above Mars’ surface and experience the true beauty of this amazing planet.

Explaining his creation, Fröjdman comments: “There is a feeling that you are flying above Mars, looking down, watching interesting locations on the planet, and there are really great places on Mars! I would love to see images taken by a landscape photographer on Mars – especially of the polar regions – but I’m afraid I won’t see those kinds of images during my lifetime.”

Fröjdman went on to describe how he put together his project. “In this film I have chosen some locations and processed the images into panning video clips. I have chosen more than 33,000 reference points and it took me three months [to complete].”
