The Saints

The Saints bar, in the heart of Prague’s gay quarter in Vinohrady, is a definite go-to for every first-time visitor to Prague. Besides serving a fine selection of beers and other drinks, they also provide guidebooks and the staff give helpful suggestions about how to best spend an evening out in the city. The owners are British, meaning you’ll find a number of UK newpapers, as well as a predominately English speaking clientele.

Piano Bar

The Piano Bar is an old-fashioned, retro-style gay bar, with the interior featuring photography, art exhibitions and, of course, a piano. It also supplies games, including cards, billiards, and chess, primarily serving its local Czech clientele. The staff tend not to speak English well, so it’s the perfect place for people who want to immerse themselves into Czech culture and the authentic side of Prague’s gay scene.

Kafirna U Ceskeho Pana

As Prague’s oldest gay venue, Kafirna U Ceskeho Pana is an intimate and friendly place, perfect for a casual drink on a weekday evening. It has a mainly older and regular Czech crowd, with occasional walk-ins due to its central location in the heart of Prague’s old town. The drinks are well priced and affordable and they serve a limited menu of traditional Czech snacks.

Friends Bar & Club‘s hip interior and relaxing atmosphere make it the biggest drinking venue of Prague’s old town. Split into two parts, with a comfortable bar area open from 6pm every day and a late night club area with a video-projection system, dance floor, and private lounges. From Wednesdays to Saturdays, there are special parties with DJs and impressive live performances that attract a young and tourist crowd.
