Few Bulgarian rock bands reach audiences outside of their native country, but JEREMY? is well worth your attention if you are a rock fan. Together since 2013, they have headlined at many rock festivals in Bulgaria, and have participated in major musical events abroad including Serbia’s EXIT and The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. Their music is lyrical and thought-provoking, perfect for turning up the volume in your car or enjoying in the open air at a summer festival. Culture Trip sat down with the band to learn more about them.

How would you describe JEREMY? in one sentence?

We are a rock ‘n’ rollin’ band.

Where did you meet, and how did you start jamming together?

We are ’90s kids and alternative music is our major inspiration. Pearl Jam (who have a song named “Jeremy”) were our idols as kids, they still are, and we all share that feeling. Also, the name Jeremy sounds good to us. It’s supposed to be typed in caps lock (JEREMY?) though, because it’s a name of a band, a project, not a single person.

Presenting the band’s second album in Sofia

You’ve played all over Europe. What’s your favorite performance and why?

It might be individual, but one thing we’ll always remember is being part of the QUEEN + Adam Lambert tour in Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. Actually, the best of all three was Poland because of its audience. We felt like proper rock stars, once all kind of people circled us and didn’t let us go for an hour giving away autographs and taking pictures…

What’s the song with the most special vibe for you?

It’s cheesy, but they all are. Our albums are only two, they are complementary to each other, and the total of our songs is 17. Not too many and there is a reason why. They are all brought to our fans with great care, and each song has its special place and meaning. For now, it’s okay to love them all. Maybe in a few years with our tenth album it will be easier (or harder?!) to pick one or two songs.
What’s your next big goal?

Stay together and go on rolling. We keep our goals simple and our dreams big. But for this time we’ve got, the most important thing is to stay real, put JEREMY? and each one of us in the band first, and do what it takes just to keep on going. ROCK ON!

JEREMY? are Ersin Mustafov (vocals, guitar), Tasho Kolev (guitars), Rosen Vatev (drums), Emiliyan Bonev (bass, vocals), and Krasimir Todorov (piano, synths).
