While Belgium is home to remarkable, and rather well-known monuments, it is the finer details of each city’s architecture and landscape that make this country unique. Based out of Antwerp, Sofie Wanten regularly captures these subleties while she explores her home country. Having developed a passion for photography when she was 16, Wanten finds particular joy in shooting architecture, city views, nature and people. She thoroughly appreciates the ability to capture fleeting moments, such as an expression on someone’s face that fades almost as quickly as it appears. The following images exemplify her ongoing journey to highlight Belgium’s understated treasures.

This view was so beautiful that it almost felt surreal. It is well worth getting up early to catch the rays of light which infiltrate Meerdaal forest.
