Uccle is famous for many things, but a thriving nightlife is not one of them. However, it is for that exact reason that Uccle’s bar scene is worth taking a closer look at, as many wonderful places have been overlooked in favor of hipper, younger Brussels neighborhoods such as St. Gilles or Ixelles.

This is an absolute must for anyone in the mood for cocktails. Quite a recent establishment, Bonobo Bar combines a great drinks menu with extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. It’s the kind of place where you can trust the bartender to make you something delicious when you tell him to surprise you.

2. Onze Quatre-Vingt Bistrot Urbain

Bar, Bistro, Beer, Wine

Onze Quatre-Vingt Bistrot Urbain strives for excellence in everything they do, which is why you’ll find delicious wines, beers and friendly service. They also serve small dishes of food (including great hot dogs), and the interior is just as cozy and elegantly designed as anywhere in Ixelles.

3. La Terasse De l’Hippodrome

La Terasse De l’Hippodrome

One of Uccle’s places to see and be seen, La Terasse de l’Hippodrome is a great option during the summer months as it has a massive swimming pool installed on the deck. Although there is a dress code, it is still a great option for families as the kids can use up their energy in the pool while the adults relax on the terrace. Drinks can be had from midday onwards until late.

4. Barabar

Barabar

Fairly decently priced and featuring an enticing happy hour, Barabar is well known in Uccle amongst the later crowds for its cocktails and jovial atmosphere. However, it can get quite packed on the weekends, but if you’re in search of a good party, Barabar is a solid contender.

5. Au Vieux Spijtigen Duivel

Bar, Restaurant, Belgian, Beer, European

Bar and hub of creativity

An Uccle institution that simply should not be missed, Au Vieux Spijtigen Duivel is one of the oldest estaminets in Brussels. It is said that Victor Hugo, Charles Baudelaire and even Emperor Charles Quint himself all stopped here for a pint at some point in history, and it isn’t hard to understand why as the Spijtigen Duivel is still just as charming as ever.

6. L’Harmonium

Bar, Cafe, Tea , European, Wine, Beer, Belgian

A great café-cultural meeting space concept, l’Harmonium is dedicated to fostering a community spirit and nurturing creativity. The drinks are served by the two enthusiastic owners, and at any given time, you can admire an art exposition or join a workshop taking place at the bar.

7. Ici Le Bô Bar

Bar, Belgian, Beer

A staple in Uccle nightlife, Ici Le Bô Bar is frequented by everyone in the neighborhood from teenagers to young professionals. There is a lovely terrace with a view of the church, happy hour every day and plenty of customers ready to party. If you are young and in Uccle, this is the place to be.

8. Bar l’Imprimerie

Bar, Brasserie, Beer, Pub Grub

Also a brasserie, Bar l’Imprimerie has something for everyone. The menu has a great selection of local beers, while the interior takes its inspiration from that of an old printing house. There is even a DJ on location to get the dance floor shaking. The food is also definitely worth a try.

9. Charlotte/Café-Cuisine

Bistro, Cafe, Restaurant, European, Belgian

Charlotte/Café Cuisine takes its name from a familiar face in the neighborhood, a certain Charlotte who used to run a frietkot near the premises of the café (called Le Vieux Dieweg back in the day). The owners of Charlotte/Café Cuisine have dedicated their brand new café to her and even staged a fictional marriage between Charlotte and Emile, another famous personage from Ixelles who has his very own bistro dedicated to him. Drinks can be had at any time of the day, so don’t hesitate to sit back and relax on the terrace of this wonderful new address.

10. Chai & Bar

Bar, Belgian, Wine, Beer

More of a wine shop than a bar (but there is a bar area on the ground floor), this had to be included on the list because of its sheer, dizzying amount of choice. If Chai & Bar doesn’t have the wine you are looking for, chances are it doesn’t exist.
