Not having its own natural beach but unwilling to miss out on all the fun, Brussels has found a clever way to treat its visitors and inhabitants to the highlights we associate with summer. An increasingly blooming canal area, tons of sand and lots of pop-up bars and restaurants make up the core of its urban beach on the Sainctelette Square and Quai des Péniches for five weeks every year. With new events like parlor games, salsa lessons, a watersport thrift market and speed dating, Brussels Beach keeps expanding its range so everyone, young and old, can enjoy the season in the capital itself. Ibiza vibes aren’t far off as partygoers float by on a boat while dancing to the tunes of the capital’s resident DJs.
