A Luxembourg artist with Polish origins, Filip Markiewicz uses themes such as identity, nationality and migration to form the base of his art projects. Creating connections between references to mainstream culture, Markiewicz’s latest exhibition at Aeroplastics Contemporary Art Gallery uses Bela Lugosi’s character of Count Dracula as a prop to address the current questions of a powerful Europe through sketches and installations. Markiewicz gives an ironic portrayal of the world today, while recognizing the values which embody Europe and the reality of the issues.
