Last year started out with a fun event in January – the Red Bull Zjazd na Krechȩ (‘Downhill Krech’) in Jurgów, Poland – before slopestyle star Marc Swoboda travelled over to Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria, in March 2016 to undertake the incredible ‘Pro Coaching Arlberg’.
Talented Hungarian Anna Gyarmati took to the stage next, performing a series of unbelievable tricks during her run in the Absolut Park at Flachauwinkl, Austria. Still in Austria, Mathias Weissenbacher headed to Kitzsteinhorn to participate in Marc Swoboda’s unique 2016 ‘Game On!’ event, in April.
Anna Gasser, the 2015 slopestyle World Championship silver medallist, was at Whistler’s Snowboard Big Air in May, continuing her impressive form. Later in the year as autumn arrived, Czech star Eva Samková was doing her thing at Italy’s Passo dello Stelvio, while another special highlight was the 2011 slopestyle world gold medallist Seppe Smits of Belgium, seen pulling out any number of number of tricks in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.
With 2017 sure to deliver another haul of amazing tricks and events, we’ll leave you to look back on another transformational year for a growing sport.
