The Queen Hates This Food So Much That Buckingham Palace Banned It

So, we know what the Queen’s favourite song is, what exactly she thought about Netflix’s The Crown and what she likes to eat in a single day, but have you ever thought about what she might actually hate? And no, it’s not potatoes, as myth would like us to think.

It’s actually, garlic. Let the vampire jokes begin.

A former royal chef who goes by the name of Darren McGrady revealed to RecipesPlus:

‘We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions, [and] we also couldn’t serve meat that was rare, as she liked her meat more well done.’

‘The Queen is a wonderful lady, the royal family are wonderful people but they’re missing out on garlic because at Buckingham Palace you don’t cook with garlic. I suppose, in case you get the royal burp.’

We can’t blame the Queen, though, as every single one of us has endured the fate of a garlic-induced breath. So, what on earth does her Maj like to eat then? According to McGrady, she’s a very in-season sort of Monarch.

‘You can send strawberries every day to The Queen during summer at Balmoral and she’ll never say a word,” he said. But if you dare serve her anything that is out of season, you are sure to get a right royal telling off: “‘try including strawberries on the menu in January and she’ll scrub out the line and say don’t dare send me genetically modified strawberries. She absolutely does eat seasonal.’
