Confession time: museums are boring. Or at least they can be. No one wants to admit it for fear of sounding uncultured but let’s be honest here, it’s a fact of life.
Austrian photographer Stefan Draschan has capitalised on this real talk in what is perhaps the funniest way ever. People Sleeping in Museums is a photo series that encapsulates its title perfectly, and it’s absolutely hilarious.
Comprised of images snapped by Stefan of museum-goers in Paris, Berlin and Vienna literally asleep in the galleries, the photos can’t not bring a smile to your face even on your worst day.
From kids snoozing in strollers to full-grown adults passed out on sofas, the pictures encapsulate what many of us feel like doing on days at the museum, but are too terrified to actually follow through with.
Stefan, who also has a great series of images called People Matching Artworks, spends hours hanging around museums waiting for the perfect moment to pounce on his photography victims, who are always blissfully unaware he is capturing them on film.
So next time you feel like snoozing around some art, don’t feel bad about it. You could become a work of art yourself!
