As Yerevan’s number of annual tourists has increased steadily over the past decade or so, it has been met with a rapidly growing number of places to eat. With this in mind, there are many breakfast and brunch spots where tourists can go to start their day, with meals that combine the typical foods eaten in the Western world with the more traditional foods eaten in the Caucasus. We put together a list of the top 10 best spots to go for breakfast and brunch in Yerevan.

Genacvale Pandok

Try a more traditional Caucasian breakfast at this restaurant. Genacvale Pandok has four running operations in the city of Yerevan, and its popularity is justified. Meals are all served with customary Armenian appetizers, including bread, cheese, and a “summer salad” consisting of tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions, all served with copious amounts of Armenian basil, of course. The main star of this restaurant is its khachapuri, a Georgian bread dish stuffed with cheese and egg, typically eaten for breakfast. This is one meal you don’t want to miss.

Crumbs Bread Factory

This cozy spot is perfect for a healthy, delicious, Western-style breakfast. Customers rave about the soups, sandwiches, juices, shakes, and obviously, the bread. Crumbs makes bread fresh from Armenian, all-natural products and carries an impressive variety of healthy bread, including walnut, rye, and olive. Round off your meal with a slice of one of the cakes or pies, as Crumbs is known for conjuring up fantastic sweet treats as well. If you’re ever in need of a beautifully decorated cake for a special occasion, Crumbs has your back.

Baguette & Co.

Start your day off right and treat yourself to the warm, flaky baguettes and adorable pastries at this restaurant. Yerevan’s Baguette & Co. is a cute shop with teal accent walls, and it serves up yummy options for breakfast and brunch daily. Try the famous baguettes, croissants, and fruity tarts if you want to indulge your sweet tooth. More health-conscious customers can order a buttery omelet or Greek salad.

The Green Bean

The Green Bean is a really great spot for your breakfast and brunch needs, and it has a really great concept. This café is an eco-friendly establishment that focuses on sourcing only the most sustainable products from Armenia’s local artisans and farmers, and as a result, the coffee and food options are healthy and tasty, especially the Belgian waffles. The shop’s décor also gives an air of sustainability and eco-friendliness: crafty wooden chairs fill the space bordered by white brick walls, and glass bottles are recycled as flower vases. As a bonus, The Green Bean has a location at the center of Cascade, one of Yerevan’s most beautiful places to hang out at.

Brioche Boulangerie

This café’s patio is so pleasant, you might linger all morning

This adorable Parisian-inspired bakery is certainly one of the best breakfast spots in the city. Come by for delicious coffee or tea and satisfy your morning hunger with eggs, bacon, pastries, bagels, or the best-selling croissants. The overall atmosphere of this café, which is charming and elegant, will make you want to linger here all morning and observe the busy streets of the city. Brioche Boulangerie also has a spacious outdoor patio, which is perfect for enjoying the first meal of the day, especially on sunny Yerevan mornings.

Louis Charden Café

Louis Charden Café is another beautiful option for early birds looking to eat a delicious breakfast in a chic, trendy spot. It has a French-inspired bakery with plenty of tasty treats to choose from, such as croissants, varieties of bread, sandwiches, pastries, and more. They also serve up heavenly soups, and their coffee will keep you energized for the day ahead. The décor at Louis Charden makes the experience extra special, with white tufted booths, a neutral color scheme, and illustrated tabletop designs. Be sure to stop by on a sunny morning.

Malocco Café

Malocco Café is undoubtedly one of the prettiest establishments in all of Yerevan, and with its location in the heart of Cascade, chances are you’ll be coming back for more. Malocco Café serves delicious breakfast and brunch items, such as oatmeal with fresh fruit and tasty pastries. Try the coffee and espresso drinks, especially the lattes. For a more refreshing experience, opt for the house lemonade. The beauty of Malocco lies in its décor, which consists of white, pink, purple, and light blue shades of color applied in the forms of tufted chairs, flower pots, small furnishings, and gorgeous fireplaces. This is definitely a café not to be missed.

Achajour

The word achajour means “the source of water.” The very first, open-air Achajour Café opened in 2009 at Lover’s Park, which features the Mineral Dry River and the Mineral Waterfall that inspired the name for the café. The venue serves fresh, homemade and natural meals. The breakfast menu is quite diverse offering various egg-based meals like omelets, sandwiches, and scrambled eggs along with roasted bread and homemade Adjarian Khachapuri, a traditional meal in Georgia’s western region of Adjara.

Eat&Fit

For those of you who seek healthy meals, Eat&Fit is the best option. Here, breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the menu includes homemade granola with milk, granola with yogurt and seasonal fruits, avocado toast, veggie omelets, and banana pancakes, to name a few. Eat&Fit is not only a great option for breakfast, but for brunch or lunch as well, as they serve a variety of snacks, wraps, sandwiches, and main courses throughout the day.

Lavash Restaurant

Lavash is a traditional flatbread in Armenian cuisine, and this restaurant focuses on offering the country’s meals in a modern and innovative way. The core principle of Lavash includes reviving forgotten Armenian traditional breakfast wraps. These wraps are calorie-rich giving the body the nutrients it needs. The most common wrap includes honey and walnuts, a typical local breakfast option accompanied with a cup of tea. Here, you can also try halva (a sunflower seed butter), local jam called murabba, and cottage cheese balls with raisins and dried fruits.
