The beauty of yoga is you can practice it anywhere and at anytime. Yoga is an ancient practice that is open to anyone who seeks it. You are never too old or too inflexible to start your yoga journey. Should you choose to practice at a shala and with a yoga instructor, these are some of the most awe-inspiring, uplifting, peaceful, and inviting places to practice at on the planet.

Located on the sacred banks of the Ganga River in Rishikesh, “The City of the Divine”, Parmarth Niketan hosts thousands of spirituality seeking pilgrims from all points on the planet throughout the year. Practicing yoga, meditation, and prayer at this ashram is a truly divine experience. Parmarth Niketan also regularly receives visiting saints, famous musicians, renowned spiritual leaders, and guest lecturers.

Intuitive Flow is a beautiful and inviting studio located in the heart of Ubud in Bali; a place that just feels like you should be doing yoga. There are floor to ceiling windows to the front and sides of the shala, which allow for natural light to pour in and warm your soul. There are all different types of yoga offered at the studio every day of the week, as well as teaching trainings, retreats, and workshops throughout the year.

Power of Now Oasis is an inspiring, eco-friendly, open-aired, beach-front yoga and mediation studio in Sanur, Bali. The two-level bamboo yoga shala is complete with a spacious space to practice, an area to relax and reflect downstairs, an organic juice and tea bar, a library, a small shop, and plenty of hammocks in front of the sea.

6. Rancho Santana, Nicaragua

Aside from the luxurious accommodations, five-star amenities, and five beaches that make up the coastline here, the yoga shala is heavenly. A five minute climb up gentle natural stairs from the main entrance of the resort takes you to the open-air and ocean facing elevated yoga shala. The energy up there is so peaceful and the views cannot be beat.

7. Light Space Yoga, Australia

Light Space Yoga was created by mother-daughter duo, Susan and Claire. There are three Light Space Yoga studios, one in Ivanhoe, Balwyn, and Mitcham. The studios are the epitome of a light and uplifting space. The contemporary and minimalistic design, mixed in with the soft and serene color palette, makes the space very calming and sanctuary-like. Vinyasa flow, slow flow, basics, and yin yoga classes, as well as prenatal, moms and babies, and kids yoga classes are offered throughout the week.

8. True Yoga and Food, New Zealand

True Yoga and Food is located in Auckland, New Zealand. The harmonious combination of a dreamy yoga studio that overlooks the Okahu Bay and a bistro and bar that serves up creative and organic Kiwi cuisine and biodynamic wines, craft beers, and kombucha is a match made in paradise. There are a variety of yoga, pilates, and barre classes offered throughout the week for all levels. Naturally, to make the perfect trifecta, there is also a wellness center on site.

EcoCamp in Chile’s Torre del Paine National Park in Patagonia is the world’s first geodesic dome hotel. This award-wining sustainable hotel is also home to a unique yoga dome. The yoga dome overlooks the pristine Patagonian wilderness at the edge of the EcoCamp hotel. There are two yoga classes offered daily and retreats are hosted here throughout the year. This is a yoga and nature destination that should not be missed.

10. Coastal Bliss Yoga, Canada

Coastal Bliss is located in Tofino on Vancouver Island in Canada’s western province of British Columbia. The small cedar pine studio has a cozy cabin feel and is even complete with infrared heaters. This wonderful gathering place for all levels of yogis fits the rustic nature vibe of the town and surrounding area. Coastal Bliss also offers beach yoga, private classes, workshops, and yoga products.

11. Sunset Yoga Hawaii, Hawaii

Sunset Yoga Hawaii is located on the island of Oahu. What makes this “studio” unique is there are no walls. Yoga takes place right on the beach. Sunset Yoga Hawaii also leads meditation waterfall hikes, corporate yoga events and retreats, and even stand up paddle board yoga. They do have a center, though, where you can enjoy a steam detox and other treatments, relax in their oceanfront lounge, sip a cup of tea, or even indulge in some chocolate and fruit. Sometimes the most amazing place to practice yoga is in nature and Hawaii is quite a spectacular studio.
