If you’re trying to find your new favorite sundowner bar, this is the list for you. While the Abaco Islands in the northern Bahamas are dotted with bars, only some make our list of the best for watching the sunset. Head for these bars right on the water’s edge, so you can appreciate the sunset from start to finish after a day’s sailing.

Enjoy a sunset drink in the Abaco Islands when you charter a boat through Culture Trip.

On Da Beach Bar & Restaurant

Bar, Restaurant, Caribbean
On the 12km (7.5mi) stretch of Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands, this beach bar takes remote to another level. The laid-back shack was made for lounging away slow afternoons and dancing into the early hours. For the best atmosphere, sit at the bar, or opt for a wooden chair overlooking the water. Most importantly, relax.

Cocktail Bar, Cocktails
For a beach bar with a difference, head to this Tahiti Beach boat. This floating cocktail bar turns a tiny sandbar into a party paradise. Arrive by dinghy and sample the Cuda Punch special, a blend of coconut, banana, mango, light rum and blue curaçao. Of course, you can also get classic cocktails, including piña coladas and the locally loved bahama mama.

The Pool Bar at Abaco Beach Resort

Bar, Cocktails
If you’re in the mood for a more upmarket sunset experience, the pool bar at Abaco Beach Resort is a great spot. This resort has its own marina in Marsh Harbour, so it’s convenient for arriving by boat. Combine the spectacular setting with friendly staff and a solid cocktail menu, and you have an ideal location for watching the sun go down.

The draw of this beach bar on Treasure Cay is beautiful Brigantine beach, just a few steps away. Take your drink onto the wooden deck and watch the sun go down on the spotless horizon. Not sure what to order? Try the frozen drinks for something refreshing and sure to quench your thirst. Keen on staying the night? The laid-back resort, Treasure Cay Marina, is a 10-minute walk away.

Sundowners Bar

Bar, Cocktails, $
The aptly named Sundowners Bar is an ideal place to see the sunset on Green Turtle Cay. There’s a dinghy dock available, and the bar has everything you could need for a good night – cocktails, karaoke, a pool table and a dartboard. If you’re staying on the cay, make this your new local bar. Watching the sun go down is stunning – and even more fun after dark.

Grabbers Bed Bar, Dock & Grille

Bar, Caribbean, $$$
If you’re sailing to Great Guana Cay, stop at this bar and grill for a sundowner drink right on the water. Use the handy dock if you’re heading in by boat and grab a cocktail before the sun sinks below the horizon. If you have time to spare, kick back on the beach under the palm trees or join a game of beach volleyball.

Pete’s Pub & Gallery

Pub, Fusion
Don’t miss this quirky waterside bar in Little Harbour. Part gallery, part bar, Pete’s Pub is the perfect place for a beer as the sun sets. Keep a lookout for the handmade bronze statues that make up the gallery portion of the bar and the signed T-shirts hanging from the ceiling.

Pineapples Bar and Grill

Bar, Caribbean, $$
Sitting on a small, out-of-the-way beach, this rustic bar on Green Turtle Cay is an ideal spot for sundowner drinks. Their cocktails match the colors of a Caribbean sunset. Dip in the pool or dive into the sea – either way, you’ll work up an appetite for dinner of typical Bahamian beach bar fare, from burgers to fried conch. Live music is usually on the schedule in season.
Cruise between these Bahamian bars by hiring a boat with Culture Trip – no sailing experience necessary.
