Souvenirs are a simple yet memorable way to remember a special trip anywhere, including one to the tropical island of Puerto Rico. Ranging from decorative plates, to keychains, or shot glasses, there are many options when souvenir shopping. Stop by some of these shops in San Juan to make sure that you leave Puerto Rico with an awesome souvenir, in addition to the wonderful memories made.

1. Plaza Las Americas

A leader among the largest and most popular malls in all of Puerto Rico, Plaza Las Americas has several stores where visitors can buy souvenirs to their hearts’ content. Must-visit stores for souvenirs include Arts & Crafts PR and Names & Plates, according to the mall’s directory. In addition, there is a section of the mall called the Paseo Cultural Ricardo Alegria, where visitors can find a variety of artesania (artisan crafts) and other art items.

2. El Market Puerto Rico

Located throughout the San Juan International Airport, El Market Puerto Rico is easy to find for travelers that make a stop at the airport between flights or for those that stay in San Juan longer. Souvenirs available for purchase at one of the 6 locations are traditional sweets and snacks, artisan crafts, and clothing. According to El Market, more than half of their products come from local distributors, so shopping at these stores means you are supporting local commerce.

3. Don Collins

This brand of cigars has been made by the Puerto Rico Tobacco Corporation since 1991. In addition to their range of cigars, shoppers can also buy other products like t-shirts, mugs, and coffee.

5. Mi Pequeño San Juan

Mi Pequeño San Juan specializes in the creation of small houses or historical buildings, often looking like those found in Old San Juan, where the store is located. Each house is drawn, a mold is created, then painted and personalized, as shown on the store’s website. Anyone interested can also check out their pieces of art via an online store. Prints, poetry and painted tiles are also available for purchase.

6. El Galpon

At this store in Old San Juan, El Galpon, visitors will find panama hats, traditional masks, and local art, to name a few items.
