The Nimmanhaemin neighbourhood of Chiang Mai has some of the best bars in the city! Here, we list our hot favourites for you to check out!

1. Warm Up

Bar, Cafe, Thai, Coffee, Tea , Wine, Beer, Cocktails

Warm Up has long been a Chiang Mai party institution and is particularly popular amongst the Thai university crowd. With multiple rooms playing everything from house, trance to Thai pop – there is something for everyone! The usual Thai “beer fairies” offer beer deals and there is also a cocktail bar on the outside terrace. Make sure to not turn up in your backpack attire and dress to impress!

2. The Beer Lab

Bar, Thai, Italian, American, Beer, Wine

Beer Lab is one of the most hipster bars in the neighbourhood and is a welcome addition to the Chiang Mai bar scene for craft beer lovers. Choose from around 200 bottled beers and 20 draught beers along with a delicious dining menu. Beer Lab is a great place to meet locals and practice your Thai.

3. Baa(n) Din

Bar, Thai, Cocktails

Hidden down a small side street off Soi 13 in an adobe mud-brick house is Baa(n) Din bar. This cosy bar has the atmosphere of a Thai beach bar with cushions on the floor, thatch roofing and the signature “brainwash” bucket (literally alcohol and mixer in a bucket). Anthony, the friendly owner, and his crew are not only super welcoming, they also make great cocktails!

5. Sangdee Gallery

Art Gallery

Sangdee Gallery is a gallery, community event centre, bar and nightclub all rolled into one. One day you could be attending a sketching workshop, the next you could be dancing ’til 4 am to the tunes of Chiang Mai’s top DJs. Sangdee Gallery is located on Soi 5, Siri Mangkalajarn Road and five minutes’ walk from Nimman.

6. Yayee

Hotel

Likely the most hipster bar on our list is Yayee rooftop bar, located on top of the boutique Yayee Hotel. This to-be-seen location is the ideal place to watch the sunset over Doi Suthep mountain. Yayee is owned by a Thai celebrity and attracts doting fans, high-so Thai’s and the expat crowd. Yayee has a wide selection of drinks including beers, wines and cocktails along with stylish culinary creations.

7. Beer Republic

Restaurant, Fusion, Thai

Beer Republic is tucked down a charming Nimmanhaemin Soi. However, its ambience is comparative to a central European bar. Here you’ll find an impressive selection of imported beers and delicious tapas-style bites. Finding it hard to choose which beer to pick? Try the five-beer taster for maximum bang for your buck.

8. Rise Bar

Bar, Fusion, Thai, Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Pub Grub

Rise Bar is the sleek Akyra Manor Hotel’s rooftop bar. This contemporary bar comes with a stunning pool that has a glass wall and breathtaking view of the mountains. Make the most of their happy hour between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm. Be sure you’re suitably dressed to mix and mingle with the bar’s clientele.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
