Sukhumvit Road is the longest road in Bangkok and there are plenty of terrific bars, restaurants, cafes, clubs, massage parlours, shops, and more to be found along the many sois (streets) that branch off from the main road. Here are some of the best independent stores in the area.

1. (un)FASHION Vintage

If you’re hunting for second-hand vintage leather bargains, don’t miss (un)FASHION Vintage. There’s a wide collection of items for men, and a smaller selection of women’s accessories and clothes. Items are sourced from various parts of the world and prices are reasonable for quality goods. From belts and bags to shoes and wallets, there’s plenty here to please. The shop also has a cute café at the back.

2. Statement

Shop, Store

Statement is a chic clothing store in Thonglor. It is a collaboration between three young Thai designers; they use the store to sell their own items in addition to a carefully curated selection of garments from local and international designers. The shop focuses on clothing for women, with items available for various settings and situations, but all tied together under a working women theme. It’s a great place to browse items that were previously only available online and take a break in the healthy café corner.

3. Again and Again

This independent fashion boutique in Thonglor stocks a wide range of vintage and second-hand clothes and accessories for women. The pre-loved items are neatly displayed and easy to look through; arranged by colour, you can mix and match with ease! The prices are reasonable and you may well find a gorgeous designer item for a steal.

5. Dasa Book Cafe

Dasa Book Café is one of the best independent bookstores in all of Bangkok. There are three floors of books in a variety of languages, and more than 17,000 titles across different themes and genres. If you don’t have the time to hunt through the shelves and are looking for something in particular, the shop’s up-to-date database makes it easy to see exactly what they have in stock. Do take some time to browse, though, and you’ll likely uncover some real gems.

6. A Pick Me Up

Vivacious, bold, fun, and colourful, A Pick Me Up is an independent store within the funky Terminal 21 mall. The concept is simple but effective—to cover t-shirts with duck images and catchy slogans. If you’re looking for an unusual yet practical gift or souvenir, check out the cool t-shirts here.

7. Paul’s Antiques

Paul’s Antiques is a treasure trove for people looking to buy rare and unusual items of furniture, collectibles, and antiques. There’s a strong focus on exquisite teak pieces from Myanmar, with many items dating back to the colonial era, though you’ll also find stunning pieces from Thailand and other Asian nations. The in-house team of carpenters also specialise in upcycling old furniture and undertaking custom repair work and restorations.

Books are written in the English language and the founder’s aim was to produce terrific illustrated books on diverse themes like art, history, architecture, philosophy, and even life meanings.
