Taipei has always had a thriving live music scene. Whether it’s cover bands cranking out classics from decades gone by or up and coming artists playing their own original music, there’s something for all musical tastes in Taiwan’s capital. But aside from the massive venues that big stars like Bob Dylan and Lady Gaga play, what are the other places to get your live music fix here in the city?

The Wall Live House

Possibly Taiwan’s most famous live venue particularly for rock groups. The Wall Live House is a regular haunt for those that like their music heavier. They’ve had some pretty big underground acts on the stage here and keep pulling in the crowds, week after week.

Rev-Now

Rev-Now

Music for Taiwan musicians. This place is the best place in the city to hang out if you’re a musician yourself. There’s a great relaxed atmosphere, and there’s always live music whenever the doors are open. The owners of this place are pretty amazing too as they’re always around to make sure everyone is having a good time.

Sappho Live Jazz

One of the coolest jazz spots in the city if not the entire island, Sappho Live Jazz is a relaxing venue with plenty of local and international musicians playing a mix of original music and classic tunes. It’s everything you’d expect a jazz club to be and then some more. And although the name suggests otherwise, they don’t limit themselves to jazz here.

Blue Note

Now, there is another contender for hippest jazz club, but the atmosphere at Blue Note is a little different to that at Sappho. Both are great places to get a bit of jazz into your system, but it’s tough choosing between the two which is why both make the list. And besides, Blue Note is such a great name for a jazz club.

Legacy

Set in the vibrant Huashan Creative Park Taiwan, this live music venue is all about the music and nothing more. A great place to see both local and touring bands perform almost every night of the week. And with plenty of standing room, it’s got that real concert venue feel to it.

Pipe Live House & Music

From live DJ sets to local artists playing acoustic sets, there’s something different going on every week at Pipe. It’s a great live venue that almost has a nightclub feel to it with a few sofas around the place and plenty of space for the crowd to bounce along to the music.
