Only a short two-hour train ride from Taipei, Taichung is becoming an extremely popular tourist destination for both foreign and local tourists. There are so many things to do in this vibrant city making it the ideal spot for a weekend away. With so many many travellers entering the city each week, the hotel industry is booming and there are scores of hotels to choose from. Here are some of the very best hotels in Taichung.

1. Hung's Mansion

In a prime location, close to public transport links and just a short walk from National Taichung Theater, Hung’s Mansion is a luxurious hotel that offers decent value for money. The rooms are bright and airy, with bigger-than-average bathrooms. It’s a very modern hotel with some pretty design features, but it’s the convenient location that puts this hotel at the top of our list.

2. Grand City Hotel

The word grand gets bandied about quite a lot these days but this hotel has definitely earned the right to use such a classy moniker. Grand City Hotel is a plush property located in the business district of Fengyuan, just a stone’s throw away from the train station. This hotel boasts a spa and a gym but it’s the three on-site restaurants where you can enjoy both Asian and international cuisine that impress the most. The rooms are pretty chic and with it being outside the city center, they’re good value for money too.

3. The Splendor Hotel

At just a few minutes’ walk away, The Splendor Hotel is an ideal place to stay for people visiting the National Museum of Natural Science. This upscale hotel has incredibly spacious rooms and very elegant decor throughout. They have three on-site restaurants and a spa, but the most popular amenity at this hotel has to be the outdoor rooftop swimming pool. A nice touch for a city center hotel.

5. 52 Hotel

Another hotel that’s not too far from the Museum of Natural Science, 52 Hotel offers guests free parking, a fitness center, and a 24-hour front desk. There’s one restaurant on-site but the surrounding area is literally full of places to eat. Rooms at the hotel are spacious and well appointed with large windows letting in plenty of natural light. And if you feel like a game of billiards, there’s even a table in the hotel common room.

The Dadun branch of Tempus Hotel is a 5-star hotel that is luxurious to the extreme. From the elegant lobby through to the comfortable and spacious bedrooms, every inch of this hotel oozes class. So it’s no surprise that the level of service offered at this hotel is one of the main reasons that guests keep coming back for more. There’s also an outdoor swimming pool and two restaurants, in addition to plenty of shops and local transport links within easy walking distance.

Located just a short drive from both Taichung Harbor and Taichung Airport, Taichung Harbor Hotel is a place that goes the extra mile for guests. The hotel is a good distance from the city center, meaning that you get better views here than you do at inner-city hotels.
