Finding brunch in Taipei is like finding sand on a beach: there are dozens of places, seemingly one on every corner. But with so many choices comes the unenviable task of choosing the best. Below are some of the best choices for a chilled out brunch in Taipei, for those weekday hangouts and lazy weekend mornings.

1. Sabrina House

Restaurant, North American

Although this restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s the brunch menu that really has everyone talking. The pancakes at this place take some beating and it’s one of the best spots in the city to get a decent western-style omelet. Don’t play with your food though, this place is so popular that they have to limit your time in the restaurant.

2. Yaboo Cafe

Cafe, Asian

2. Yaboo Cafe

Home to a family of coffee-house cats, Yaboo Café is a small but cozy place in Taipei’s vibrant Yong Kang Street neighborhood. The area is well known for its great dining options and Yaboo doesn’t let the side down. With a menu consisting of paninis, sandwiches, and pastas, not to mention the fantastic desserts, this place is well worth a visit.

3. Belle Époque

Restaurant, American

If you’re looking for something a little unusual then Belle Epoque could just be the brunch place to try. Pearl Milk Tea is incredibly popular here in Taiwan but here it’s a completely different experience. Try the pearl pancakes, with tapioca balls in the batter, or try the oreo pearl milk tea – it’s like nothing you’ll find anywhere else in Taipei.

5. Good Cho's

Restaurant, Salad Bar

What started out as a small health-conscious café has turned into a popular brand with several locations throughout the city. Good Cho’s prides itself on providing only healthy options at their restaurants with brunch being the most popular meal of the day. They have amazing salads and a superb selection of bagels with something to suit everyone’s tastes. It does get busy though so book ahead if possible or go early and expect to wait a little while.

6. One Fifteen

Restaurant, Asian

Originally a clothing store that now has its own café, One Fifteen is the place to be for all the brunch-craving fashionistas. Try a beef rib brunch or indulge in one of the many cakes and desserts on the menu. The coffee is great and the staff are helpful and super stylish. It’s definitely an experience, although perhaps not one to suit everyone’s tastes – for those who love food and fashion, it’s a must.

7. The Diner

This is one of the most popular brunch spots in Taipei, and with good reason. The food is tasty and extremely good value for money while the options on the menu are akin to what you’d find at a traditional American diner, hence the name. The menu includes blueberry pancakes and eggs made however you want them, as well as more unusual options such as the duck breast eggs benedict. For authentic American-style fare, this is the place.
