Summer never ends in Singapore, literally. This is one reason why ice cream is such a favourite snack, dessert, and even proper meal here. Whether it’s old school Potong ice cream or ice cream in a slice of swirly-coloured bread, there are plenty of variations at all times for anyone to enjoy.

As the quintessential ice cream parlour here, Island Creamery has been dishing it out since 2004, with numerous variations inspired by local specialties, favourites and ingredients such as Tiger Beer (a local beer brand), Horlicks, Teh Tarik, Bandung and a whole lot more. You’ll be spoilt for choice and if you want a very local experience via a scoop of ice cream, then you’re definitely in luck.

Here’s another classic that’s been serving up some really fancy scoops that look like something out of a fine dining menu. They rotate their menu weekly, which means there is always something new and different when you visit. Their fusion-oriented ice cream – such as their popular Lychee Martini, made with lychee juice and vodka – is one reason to visit this place for some lip-smacking adventure.

320 Below is popular for being one of the few nitro freeze ice cream parlours. For those who don’t know, nitro-freezing rapidly freezes the concoction, which makes it creamier in texture. They serve a wide variety of delicious flavours from durian to mango, but it’s their creamy composition that makes this a perfect place to enjoy a light meal or even dessert without feeling too bloated.

That being said, Fatcat offers some intriguing and adventurous choices in their menu such as Earl Grey Lavender and Watermelon Soju. Everything is hand-crafted and served in a chic and modern establishment. Oh, if you’re much more adventurous, ask for their mysterious flavour.

Serving gelato-inspired ice cream cooked up with natural ingredients such as flowers and herbs, this is one of the more distinctive ice cream parlours in Singapore. Part of the new trend that emphasises healthy consumption and natural ingredients which do more than just satisfy the tongue, perpetual favourites such as chocolate aren’t available here. Instead go for white chrysanthemum, lychee raspberry or something more local like pandan.

Udders is constantly packed due to its generally affordable and localised offerings, including Mao Shan Wang, a specific type of durian very popular amongst Singaporeans. Aside from that, they offer some rather delectable liqueur-based flavours such Baileys & Bourbon, October and Rum Rum Raisins – making this quite a fun place to hang out and spend some quality time having a sip, or a scoop, of their alcohol-tinted frozen treats.
