It’s easy to get into a rut of going to the same bars over and over again – the ones close to your house and where you’re friends with the staff. But everyone knows it is important to have something more special planned for date night. Here’s our list of the best romantic bars for a post-dinner tipple in Singapore.
Montreux Jazz Café
Perfect for jazz lovers, the Montreux Jazz Café, located in the Pan Pacific Orchard, features colourful interiors and an open-plan design, making the bar feel classy and casual at the same time. It is a good place for having conversations between the sets. Jazz lovers will especially love the menu with its jazz-inspired dishes, such as Ella’s Cheesecake, a reference to Ella Fitzgerald.
The Rabbit Hole
Start your evening with a fabulous dinner inside The White Rabbit, housed in a restored colonial chapel. After your meal, head out into the garden bar, The Rabbit Hole. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, The Rabbit Hole is Singapore’s only gin garden bar featuring 15 distinctly flavoured gin and tonics.

Angie’s Oyster Bar
Sitting on the 45th floor of 50 Raffles Place, Angie’s Oyster Bar offers beautiful views of Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore skyline. And it goes without saying – it’s hard to find a better date night food than oysters! Think about starting your night at Angie’s, rather than finishing there. They have an excellent value happy hour featuring a buck-a-shuck oyster promo as well as discounts on craft beer.

The Black Swan
With its Art Deco vibes, stepping into The Black Swan feels like travelling back to the Roaring Twenties. Book one of their cosy booths for a romantic evening, or if you can tear yourself away from the beautiful décor, sit in the gorgeous courtyard out back that will leave you in disbelief that you’re still standing in the heart of the Central Business District. Another great happy hour spot, The Black Swan offers $2++ oysters and house pours, house wines and selected beers for just $9++ every weekday from 5–9 pm.

Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar
A recent entry to the Singapore bar scene, this French wine bistro has been making waves since it opened on Valentine’s Day 2017. It’s a perfect bar where you can impress your date without breaking the bank. Wines start at just $6++ per glass or $30++ per bottle. Book a table in advance because Ginett seems to be full every day of the week – go for the secluded tables in the back for privacy or get a table at the bar and enjoy being in the thick of things.

Located at the Regent Singapore, Manhattan Bar is reminiscent of the bars Don Draper frequents in Mad Men. All plush armchairs and wood panelling, the bar is the height of sophistication. Cocktail aficionados will be impressed by the separately housed Rickhouse, which holds over 100 barrels of spirits, as well as the Ingredient Room for cocktail crafting. For a special occasion, try the Sunday buffet brunch that includes free-flowing bespoke cocktails and a DIY Bloody Mary station.
Employees Only SG
If it’s your date’s first time to Employees Only SG, they’ll be impressed by your ability to find it and obvious knowledge of cool places. When you’re walking down Amoy Street, look for a pink neon sign advertising the services of a psychic. Pull open the door and push back the curtain to reveal the bar, and settle down to enjoy an artful cocktail or bottle of wine.
