Overview
Join your host Midori in her Machiya and watch as she cooks a traditional Japanese meal. You can choose from one of three set menus that she offers - Teriyaki Chicken (teriyaki chicken, 2 seasonal vegetables, miso soup, rice), Maki Sushi (maki sushi, tamago yaki, 1 seasonal vegetable, miso soup) or Kansai Street Snacks (okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yaki gyoza, miso soup). Midori likes to create dishes from simple and easy recipes that you can easily recreate back home. This will be a cooking demonstration where you will watch Midori cook using seasonal and traditional ingredients. The cooking portion of the experience will last one hour, after which you will sit down and share a meal together.
Once you're done eating, you'll go and explore Kyoto's four-hundred-year-old Nishiki Market - one of Japan's most iconic markets - with Midori. Walk through the stalls and let Midori tell you about all the wonderful foods that make up Kyoto cuisine!
