Pune is one of those cities in India with a young and urban population, thanks to the presence of prestigious educational hubs and corporate biggies. Not surprisingly, there are over 100 pubs and nightclubs in the city, which mostly remain open until four in the morning. Pune is one of the few cities in India where nightclubs stay open until late. Here are 10 happening hangout spots for a night out in Pune.

High Spirits

This place is perfect if you just started going to nightclubs and don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket. Drinks are affordable and there are frequent live gigs and offbeat music, so those looking to have a relaxed time over drinks should definitely check this place out. Located off Mundhwa Road, High Spirits is the place to be for many youngsters.

If you are looking for a more sophisticated crowd and a vibrant mix, then head to Swig, in Koregaon Park. This place blends fun, dance, music and drinks to create a magical ambiance. Swig is a club-turned-lounge that hosts a variety of musicians, painters, dancers and sculptors. You get to listen to live music, Urdu poetry and even be part of art nights. Even though it’s a little expensive, the place has lovely decor and friendly staff.

Hard Rock Café

A legendary place with great music and amazing burgers, Hard Rock Café often plays host to famous musicians from across the globe. The Hard Rock Café in Mumbai may be the most popular in India but its Pune version is no less when it comes to blending great music and food. This is also where you will find, ensconced in a glass case, a pair of Levi’s jeans worn by Sir Paul McCartney in 1997.

Area 51

For those of you who like to dance to peppy tunes all throughout the night, Area 51 is where you should be. Built in the shape of a spaceship and seated on a small hillock in Baner, Area 51 is open only on Saturdays, but offers amazing music and a cool ambiance, particularly for those who love to jive to live music. Area 51 is hands down the biggest and most visited nightclub in Maharashtra at over 10,000 square feet and it also has a restaurant section where clubbers can head to dine out.

Mi-A-Mi

This is another great option for those who love to dance through the night to some amazing live music. Located in the JW Marriott Hotel, Mi-A-Mi is designed like an underground garage with a huge dance floor. But even if you do not like to dance and prefer to spend the night chatting with friends, the place has a white bed lounge section and private enclosures for that purpose.
