Over the past few years, food trucks have popped up all over Bangalore, serving cheap and delicious grub. Jump on the bandwagon and try some of the best ones in the Silicon Valley of India.

1. The Spitfire BBQ Truck

Food Truck, BBQ, Vegetarian

Owner Siddhanth Sawkar started the Spitfire BBQ Truck after being inspired at culinary school in Italy by his teacher, who owned a food truck. It quickly achieved a cult status among barbecue lovers and has now become a permanent fixture on the streets of Bangalore, serving meats sourced from local farms. The New York hot dog, Cajun-spiced BBQ chicken burger, double bacon double chicken steak burger, grilled chicken wings and coleslaw burger are some of the popular items on offer. The menu changes regularly – so don’t forget to check their Facebook page for the daily menu and location updates.

Go Waffles Food Truck is the go-to option for those with a sweet tooth. It offers an array of freshly-made Belgian waffles and toppings vary from the classics, such as Nutella and cream, to the more indulgent ones, such as blueberry, caramel crunch, blue curacao syrup, mangoes and bananas. On weekdays, the truck is normally parked around tech parks and on weekends, near Hennur Road or at events held across the city.

3. Great Indian Bhukkad Food Truck

Food Truck, Chinese, Indian

The Great Indian Bhukkad Food Truck came about when Suraj Agarwal, a biotech engineer, decided to work for himself. He followed his passion for food and established the truck in 2014. This mobile joint specialises in vegetarian North Indian and Chinese cuisine along with sandwiches and rolls. The highlights include whole wheat wraps filled with chole, aloo and paneer, schezwan triple fried rice or noodles and momos. Other good picks are the veg biryani with raita (yogurt with vegetables), veggie or paneer fried rice and noodles, baby corn pepper fry, pasta and lachha paratha with paneer butter masala.

5. Le Casse Croûte

Food Truck, Restaurant, French

Started by the three French entrepreneurs Nicholas Mirguet, Nicholas Grossemy and Johanne Barbier, Le Casse Croûte, which translates to snack or light meal in French, is the first French food truck in the city. Try the Monsieur Le Goff, a sandwich made of fresh prawns and homemade aioli or the Monsieur Martin, which comes with bacon and béchamel. Complement the meal with delectable sides like French fries and gazpacho soup. Make sure to save some room for dessert since their crème de la crème (homemade caramel cream made with salted butter and biscuits) is absolutely divine.

6. S.W.A.T Food Truck

Food Truck, American, Mexican

S.W.A.T stands for Serving With a Twist and its menu stands true to its name. Started by three hotel management graduates, Vivek Cornelio, Lioma D’souza and Jimson Johns, this truck offers hearty American and Mexican meals with a creative twist. The menu includes everything from the classics, such as saucy hot dogs, a mac n’ cheese burger, BBQ pork ribs, peri-peri prawns and nachos, to more inventive creations, which include the sloppy joe burger and deep-fried Oreos with chocolate sauce and ice cream.

7. The LaLiT Food Truck Company Bangalore

Food Truck, Mexican

Craving Mexican food? The LaLiT Food Truck Company, run by the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, has some great options. Their specialties include a Mexican spiced vegetable taco, a chicken quesadilla, chicken tacos, a jalapeño omelette sandwich and a fiery vegetable chimichanga. For a filling meal, try their combos, which include a warp/burger, fries and a soda. Finish off the meal with an Oreo shake or a brownie with vanilla ice cream.
