People travel for many different reasons, or simply none at all. Irrespective of the purpose, the destination automatically brings such joy along with a sense of contentment that the unquenchable thirst to keep exploring never ends. Whether you’re traveling to India or are a local resident desperately hunting for a getaway, Himachal Pradesh is the antidote. Here’s how you can explore the abode of snow in an adventurous way.

Paraglide in Bir Billing

This place offers a bird’s eye view of the undulating beauty of the domineering Himalayas terrain. In 2015, Bir, a village settled in the Joginder Nagar Valley in Himachal Pradesh, hosted its first Paragliding World Cup and now it is known as the ‘’Paragliding capital of India’’.

Rafting expedition in Spiti Valley

Kullu is the gateway to the vast cold desert land of Spiti Valley. Also known as the ”middle land” wedged between Tibet and India, Spiti is the starting point of the Himalayan range’s majestic landscape and the best way to explore the valley is by rafting through it.

Camp at Triund

Triund is to campers what Kheerganga is to stoners. It is the crown jewel of Dharamshala sitting pretty at the foothills of the Dhauladhar range. Imagine being on top of a mountain surrounded by the mammoth Himalayan ranges underneath a billion shimmering stars. It is highly recommended to explore Triund off-season in the months of November-March.

Mountain biking at Kangra

If dangerous roads and high altitude give you an adrenaline rush, then exploring Himachal Pradesh’s valleys via biking or cycling should be on your bucket list. Kangra Valley’s 260km circuit wrapped in breathtaking mountainous panorama will make you want to pump fitness numbers.

Heli-skiing at Hanuman Tibba

Forget about the Alps because this chunk of the Himalayan range is the most ruthless yet, appealing to every adventure junkie. Hanuman Tibba, a.k.a the White Mountain, is the highest in the Dhauladhar range, elevated at the height of 19,450 ft. Best time to visit is December-March.

Angling at Tirthan Valley

Tirthan Valley has been named as one of Himachal’s best-kept secrets, culminating in the perfect marriage between nature and adventure. It is not only every trekker’s Wonderland but also a paradise for angling buffs. The local officials generate a permit to enjoy its rich aquatic biodiversity.

We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way.
