Updated: 27 July 2016
Falling on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, the Seven Sisters Festival is commonly known as ‘Chinese Valentine’s Day’, with the origin of the festival hailing from the legend behind two stars, Altair and Vega.

These two stars were said to be lovers, a mortal and a goddess, who were in love but cruelly separated – only allowed to be reunited once a year.

Throughout the festival you will see traditions such as needlework competitions, burning of incense and people (namely young women) making offerings to the lovesick pair. More recently, people have taken to visiting Lover’s Rock in Wan Chai to make their offerings.

📅    Wednesday, August 9th

📍    Lover’s Rock, Bowen Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
