Development on Cambodia’s largest island, Koh Rong, is quickly picking up pace. But for now, it still has it all, from deserted beaches to thumping party shores. And there are plenty of places to stay. Here are some of the best guesthouses on Koh Rong.

Inn the Village

If getting back to basics is your thing, then check in to Inn the Village. This rustic resort has seven wooden huts dotted about woodland that skirts the beach. Both private rooms and dorms are available. Rooms come with bucket showers only, and electricity runs from 6pm to 11pm daily. With a pristine beach a stone’s throw away, this is a great option for those on a budget.

Angkor Chom Bungalows

Right on the beach, this budget option also serves up basic accommodation in sumptuous surroundings. With nine rooms, a restaurant, communal area and free Wifi available in the lobby, Angkor Chom Bungalows attracts the chilled-out crowd. Bike rental and scuba diving are also available onsite.

Happy Elephant Bungalows

Offering super views from atop a hill close to the beach, this resort is a short walk from the white sands. It comprises seven clean and breezy rooms dotted throughout tropical gardens. With a real natural vibe, each room has a private bathroom with shower–just don’t expect it to be warm.

Coco Boutique Resort

Also located on a bustling stretch of sand, Coco Boutique Resort offers 40 guestrooms right on the beach, making waking up in the mornings much easier. A bar and restaurant serves food and drinks, and there’s even a hair salon also onsite for when the humidity gets too insane and the mane needs taming. A pool table is also available.

Koh Rong Hill Beach Resort

Located a short walk from the beach, Koh Rong Hill Beach Resort has 16 rooms with a modern feel. For those who want to steer clear of the sea, there is an outdoor pool, and a restaurant and bar serve up food and drinks throughout the day. Childcare is also available.

Nature Beach

Fancy camping in a tent perched in the treetops? If the answer is yes, then Nature Beach has got it sorted. For those wanting to sleep on firm ground, there is also a smattering of basic bungalows. A short stroll from the beach, the resort also has a restaurant, and kayaking, scuba diving and snorkelling are available.
