Whether you’re tempted by the flavours and ancient history of Jordan, the rainforests of Northern Thailand, or the serene, mountain landscapes of Nepal, a bounty of unforgettable experiences awaits on this vast continent. Here’s our pick of the best Asian countries to visit in autumn – and the unforgettable experiences that lie in wait with Culture Trip.
1 . Petra, for ancient cities, fine wine and desert wilderness camping

You may well have seen pictures of Petra, but nothing compares to visiting the magnificent, ancient city in real life. There’s so much more to Jordan, though, and you can experience the best the country has to offer in the company of a local insider and a small group of culturally curious travellers on this specially curated, nine-day adventure. Hike the rugged Shaq al Reesh trail through rust-coloured mountains, climb Mount Haron at sunrise, snorkel in the Red Sea and wild camp under the stars in Little Petra. Be sure to sample authentic Jordanian street food in Amman, and sample wine at Haddad, Jordan’s oldest winery. You’ll also visit Petra, of course, but through the exclusive back door entrance, allowing you to beat the crowds.

2 . Northern Thailand, for jungle trekking and waterfall swimming

Undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Asia, Northern Thailand is often overlooked for Thailand’s southern islands – but it holds plenty of appeal, from its ancient Buddhist monasteries to rolling, jungle-covered hills and geothermal springs. Visiting in autumn means you’ll avoid the heaviest crowds and hottest, most humid days of summer. On this 10-day trip, you’ll start in Chiang Mai, gaining an insight into the city’s street food and street art scenes on a bicycle tour, before veering off the beaten track. Climb up the Bua Tong Sticky Waterfalls, take a dip in the Pam Bok Waterfall, and hike alongside the majestic Pai Canyon. A sunrise trek to the summit of Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon, is another highlight, as well as soaking in the Ngam Hot Springs and visiting an elephant sanctuary.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel – and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Bespoke Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Bespoke Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm – and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
