1. Mugg and Bean

Mugg and Bean has several outlets around Lusaka such as at Manda Hill, Levy Mall and several on-the-go outlets in the central business district. Mugg and Bean serves all-day breakfast, and the menu includes freshly-baked sweet and savory croissants, power smoothies and bowls, omelettes with a choice of fillings and variations on the full english breakfast. All meals can be paired with a bottomless coffee for an additional fee.

2. #Social

Cocktail Bar, Diner, Restaurant, African, American

#Social is a new and trendy diner-style lounge and restaurant located on Lagos Road in Lusaka, Zambia. They serve an all-day breakfast (until 6pm) with interestingly-named menu items such as ‘French Kiss’, which consists of two slices of french toast with fresh fruit salad, ‘Popeye the Sailor’, which is a cheese and spinach omelette served with toast and butter. They also have ‘Big Breakfast’ options such as ‘Hangover Breakfast’, which consists of two eggs, bacon, a banana, toast and a Virgin Mary. Coffee or tea can be ordered separately. Specialty hot beverages include salted caramel caffe late, masala chai and more.

3. Latitude 15

‘Breakfast in a beautiful space’ is one of the best ways to describe breakfast at Latitude 15. Located in the tree-filled suburbs of Kabulonga, Latitude 15 boutique hotel has a gallery-feel with beautiful artwork placed around. Breakfast options include cereal, fresh fruit, and a hot breakfast with a choice of eggs. There is also an option to chose a type of breakfast such as Italian, Mexican (which has spicy scrambled eggs and a tortilla) and more.

5. Wimpy

Wimpy is a diner-style restaurant located at Levy Mall in Lusaka. They have great value all-day breakfast deals with items such as breakfast bowls, a selection of vegetarian meals such as spicy guacamole on toast, vegetable patties and more. Hot drinks such as various teas and coffees are also available.

6. The Cake Bar

Bakery, Cafe, Coffee Shop, American

The Cake Bar has four locations in Lusaka; Makeni Mall, Cosmopolitan Mall, Woodlands and the Fallsway Area. It is an Italian-inspired bistro and cakery. The breakfast menu items include breakfast burgers and wraps, full English breakfast (which is USD $5 from 7am to 9am and includes a cup of coffee or tea). There is also ‘breakfast in a cup’ (yogurt and fruit with granola), french toast and a build-your-own omelette option.

7. 3 Trees

3 Trees is a halal restaurant located in the suburbs of Rhodespark, Lusaka. Their breakfast menu includes simple meals like health bowls (dried fruit, muesli, Greek yogurt and honey), fruit bowls and french toast. There is also a Middle Eastern option, which includes hummus, baba ganoush and olives served with pita bread. The vegetarian option includes a spinach quiche. Breakfast is served from 7:30am until 11:30am.

Taste By Rootz is a quaint tea bar with rustic décor located in the Olympia suburb of Lusaka. The breakfast menu includes the taste breakfast – a flatbread topped with herb pesto, aubergine chutney, sautéed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, mozzarella served with a poached egg – and the with love breakfast, which consists of french toast with nutella and banana topped with honey. Enjoy various types of teas such as blackcurrant, lemongrass and Moroccan mint. The iced coffee is recommended. As there are no swipe machines, cash should be used.

9. Sugarbush Café

Situated on the stunning grounds of Sugarbush Farm, the Sugarbush Café might be a little outside of the city of Lusaka, but it is definitely worth the trip. The café is housed in a thatched Cape Dutch barn that also includes a shop where handcrafted leather handbags, candles and textiles are sold. The breakfast menu includes pancakes drizzled in maple syrup, eggs benedict, bacon and scrambled eggs. Different types of tea and coffee are also on the menu, as are fresh juices and lemonade.

10. Monkey Pools

The Mukamunya Estate is a gated housing community located in Lusaka South at the source of the Mukamunya river, which forms a natural pool – known as ‘Monkey Pools’ – set among lush forests and makes a good family-friendly picnic for the day. On Saturdays and Sundays the restaurant on the premises hosts brunch for USD$16 per person, which includes entrance fees to the estate. The menu features parfait cups, a choice of fried, scrambled egg or an omelette, baked beans, mushrooms and bacon. Refreshments include fruit juice, coffee and tea.
