SA Fashion Week kicks off with the SAFW New Talent Search Show, which will showcase the collections of the winning entrants. The majority of the day will be dedicated to young, up-and-coming designers from around the country, and is a great opportunity to witness South Africa’s emerging design talent. Don’t miss the presentation of SA fashion heavyweight, Clive Rundle at 8pm.
Day two will see local fashion darling, Gert-Johan Coetzee’s models take to the runway in an invite-only show off-site, but the general fashion public need not worry – the main stage will exhibit equally alluring collections from established designers like Mantsho and Rubicon, as well as a bevy of younger design houses.
Day three kicks off with private shows by Black Coffee, Lunar and Guillotine off-site. From 6:30 pm you can pick out your favorite designs from fashion stalwart, Colleen Eitzen and other top designers including Erre and Vintage Zionist.
Days Four and Five
If you’re a man looking for style inspiration, head to SA Fashion Week on day four and five, as no less than 15 menswear designers will be showcasing their A/W ‘17 collections. The program features a combination of established and emerging design talent ranging from streetwear to high-end tailored ensembles.
Pop-up Shops and Retail
In a fashion first for South Africa, SA Fashion Week will be hosting a trade event at Hyde Park Corner for a shopping experience not to be missed. From September 28 to October 1, meet your favorite South African designers and shop from an exciting mix of womenswear and menswear labels, including exquisite handbags and accessories. And if that’s not enough, fill up your wardrobe with fashion favorites from the SAFW Designer Pop Up Shop at Brooklyn Mall, Johannesburg from November 23 to 26. For those of you who are unable to join the festivities in Joburg, get on the Internet and browse Runway – an online store that offers must-have capsule looks and accessories from local designer collections.
