Marrakech is a major Moroccan economic center, a vibrant and bustling city brimming with magnificent mosques, beautiful palaces and charming gardens. The diversity and variety of Marrakech is reflected deliciously in the food it offers, with sumptuous spices and herbs combining to make flavorful African food unlike any other. With scorching temperatures here for many hours a day, visitors may choose to enjoy simpler meals and lighter bites as opposed to heavier dishes. With that in mind, here’s our list of the 10 best brunch spots to visit in Marrakech.

A restaurant with more than a wonderful menu, Amal will satisfy diners’ tastebuds as well as touch their hearts. With the aim of creating social stability for disadvantaged women, Amal employs less-fortunate women to work in their restaurant and gives them extensive job training. Daily cooking classes are open to the public each morning from 10am until noon, where students choose one out of nine Moroccan dishes to carefully prepare. This establishment uses only locally-grown, healthy ingredients to make delicious signature Moroccan dishes including tagine and pastilla.

2. Softy Sweet

A well-known brunch spot in the heart of Marrakech, Softy Sweet offers a full menu of breakfast and lunch options, as well as frozen yogurt and a wide selection of dessert choices. This café is praised for its minimal yet modern decor, including a charming chalkboard menu, a wooden bar and an open-top kitchen.The menu includes a selection of original dishes, and puts its own signature twist on classic menu items, like the lemon meringue pie it serves with a blueberry mousse. The most popular brunch item, the JAVI sandwich, includes warm homemade bread, avocado, onion, tomato, chilli, goats cheese and a splash of lemon.

Outside the restaurant sits an illuminated swimming pool with a charming walkway leading into the restaurant. Inside are tables covered in pretty white tablecloth and candles, as well as a picturesque wood-burning fireplace, create soft and enchanting lighting throughout the venue. Chef Jacques Laurent Pourcel ensures the quality of his food matches the first-rate ambience, with beautiful plate presentation and a variety of seasonal foods catering to every type of occasion. Live music and entertainment add an extra flare to this glamorous brunch space.

Les Jardins d’Ines

Owned by famous food expert Christophe Leroy, a revered international chef with a multitude of restaurants and cafés, Les Jardins d’Ines is a tasty breakfast choice located within five star hotel Jardin d’Ines. Brunch here is created in an entirely Moroccan style, with entrees such as black cod with miso sauce, and fresh tomato tarts with basil. Renowned architect Imaad Rahmounie recently rebuilt the dining space here, transforming it into a high-class, comfortable area for fine dining and relaxation. Brunch is served here only on Sundays.

5. La Mamounia

La Mamounia was rated by Reader’s Choice as the ‘Best Hotel in Middle and Eastern Africa 2015’, and boasts a brilliant restaurant celebrated for its impeccable Sunday brunch. Served in the hotel’s swimming pool pavilion, there’s splendid seasonal options as well as a huge selection of seafood including lobster, salmon and juicy oysters. La Mamounia prizes itself on using locally sourced ingredients, and even has its own garden to cultivate herbs and vegetables. Customers are greeted with a glass of champagne upon arrival for Sunday brunch, confirming that the hotel is one of the most elegant places to dine in all of Marrakech. Be sure to try the signature cappuccino which uses a rich and strong locally grown coffee.
